PCT Day 44 (6/30/22) Ashland to Hyatt Reservoir

"Great day today. Went for a hot tube and swim this morning then hit up a great bagel shop. Gave myself a haircut then went in the hot tub and pool again. Drove back to the trail and started hiking around 10:30. Got lead out for the first mile or so by my Mom and Sister. Still got in a pretty substantial amount of mileage even with the late start. Camping by a pretty sweet lake with surprisingly no bugs." 6/30/22 7:36 PM

PCT Day 43 (6/29/22) Oregon Border to Ashland

"Super sweet day today. Camped near a dude who snores hella loud and it sounded like farts. Couldn't fall asleep to the sound of it after 4am so I packed up and started hiking. Cranked out 23 miles to the road to Ashland by 1 o'clock where I got picked up by my Mom and Sister. Pounded a few thousand calories over an extended lunch and took a super nice hot tub and swim at the hotel. Did an awesome resupply at the Ashland food coop and got a pretty good burrito for dinner. Had to do some orientation stuff for college on the computer. Going to a hella good bagel shop tomorrow morning then gonna get back on the trail and start sending it through my biggest food carry yet. Stoked." 6/29/22 9:40 PM

PCT Day 42 (6/28/22) Seiad Valley to Oregon Border

"Awesome day today. Started hiking a bit after six and cranked out the first miles to a water source where I took an early lunch around 11:30 with a couple guys I camped with the night before. Continued to see them throughout the day and hiked with them each a bit. About 20 miles in we crossed from California into Oregon! Pretty stoked. Going into Ashland tomorrow and going to stay the night at a hotel with a hot tub." 6/28/22 7:53 PM

PCT Day 41 (6/27/22) Grider Creek to Seiad Valley

"Great day today. Cruised downhill from my campsite last night all the way into Seiad Valley. Got a super killer breakfast burrito at the Seiad Valley Cafe. Hund out a little while after to use the internet and then went it up the climb in the hottest part of the day. Climb was pretty tough but definitely manageable. Someone sag wagoning for a couple hikers gave me a bunch of food and drinks at the top. Camping with a bunch of other hikers too." 6/27/22 8:19 PM

PCT Day 40 (6/26/22) Marble Mountain Wilderness to Grider Creek

"Great day today! Crushed some serious mileage and ready to hit the climb out of Seiad Valley tomorrow. Going to be in Oregon in two days. Started early and there was a bit of snow. I slipped once and broke my trekking pole. After some steep climbing I stopped in a valley where there was a horse team hauling out trail maintenance equipment. One of the horses that was untied got real close to try to take my apples and peanut butter right our of my hands. Took lunch at a good lookout with service after the last steep climb, then cruised the rest of the way to camp. It was pretty hot in the afternoon. Met a super cool dude at camp who is a physical therapist for AG2R la Mondiale, the professional cycling team. Pretty excited to get to Ashland in a few days." 6/26/22 9:14PM

PCT Day 39 (6/25/22) Russian Peak to Marble Mountain Wilderness

"Hiked about 9 miles to Etna Summit this morning where I got a ride with 3 other hikers in the back of a pickup down into Etna. Walked over to a farmers market where I got a free local head of lettuce and some granola. Got lunch at the grocery store then went to the park, where PCT hikers can camp, to hang out and plow some calories. Once I was full I went to the community pool which is open for free all summer to anybody. Swam for a little then went back downtown to resupply. Also exchanged my socks and got a new stuff sack for my tent at the outdoor store. There was live music downtown all day too which was pretty nice. Got a ride out of town around 5 with a few other hikers and crushed 10 miles more today. Packing a ton of good food." 6/25/22 10:04 PM

PCT Day 38 (6/24/22) Scott Mountain to Russian Peak

"Long one today. Started out with sore legs from yesterday and took an early lunch. Started to feel better later in the day but I was running out of food. Luckily there were a couple cyclists from Petaluma at the road crossing that gave me two Larabars and some dried mango! Ate the mango right away and a bar later later to push me over 30 for the day. Only 9 miles into Etna tomorrow and someone said there's a music festival happening this weekend. Stoked!" 6/24/22 8:08 PM

PCT Day 37 (6/23/22) Porcupine Lake to Scott Mountain

"Kind of gnarly day today. Have a hella deep soreness in my thighs that made the downhills kind of brutal. Luckily there were very few steep downhills today. It was probably the flattest day I've had. Water sources are a lot scarcer at the higher elevation. Camping near Highway 3 at a forest campground. Probably will have a chill day tomorrow." 6/23/22 7:44 PM

PCT Day 36 (6/22/22) Castle Crags Wilderness to Porcupine Lake

"Sweet day today. Got up around six and started a gnarly 4000 foot climb out of Mount Shasta. Was pretty hot in the sun and I got to charge my phone a lot, which was great because it had been on the verge of dying for the last few days. Cruised along a ridge for a while with views of Shasta and Lassen. Camping at a super sweet lake that I got to go swimming in. All my meals have been awesome, totally scored on this resupply." 6/22/22 7:43 PM
