Another ski season in the books... almost

I spent the majority of this recent winter ski patrolling up at Bear Valley, CA. It's a smaller mountain, but the terrain was a big upgrade from Boreal, and I was able to push my limits a bit more.

The weather this season was concerning, to say the least (hence the photos of non-skiing activities). It has gotten me gravely concerned about the impact global warming might have on upcoming winters:

Precipitation was above the median, while snowfall was below. We endured a frustrating mix of heavy snow punctuated by heavy rain and unusually warm spells. Combined with an equally frustrating foot injury, I wasn't too distraught to head back to the Bay Area after closing three weeks ahead of schedule.

But in the ensuing weeks winter came back for an encore, with ~60" of snowfall at the sierra crest. I willingly missed out on all of it, with too many Bay Area to Bear Valley commutes under my belt already.

But now that east-side roads are being plowed and the weather and snowpack are turning more into the predictable spring type that I prefer, the ski season will be resuming.

Much needed inspiration
I'm trying to get better at taking lots of photos and notes so I can put some more material up on this site. Hoping for good spring weather next week!
